5        +2        = 7

What is a official Golf Handicap?
The only way to get an ‘official’ golf handicap is to join a Golf Club affiliated to CONGU.

Why would you want a Golf Handicap?
To continually measure your own standard of golf game.
To use as a fair and reasonable measurement when playing against other golfers.
To enter competitions or to play on certain golf courses that request a certificate.

Stiletto Golf can provide its members with a golf society playing handicap

Competitions
Player swap cards at the beginning of the game, placing their own golf scores in the 'markers' column and the players scores for whom they are marking in the associated columns.

There are many different ways a competition can be played however they are normally based on either Medal or Match play.

Medal /Stroke Play – players record the total number of golf shots taken in the entire round.  The players handicap is then deducted to give a net score. The lowest net score wins.

Match Play -   players record their score on each hole competing hole by hole. The player who taking fewer shots on the hole compared to their opponent wins the hole.

Stableford Competition – one of the most common ways to score is based on points awarded for each hole to an individual player according to their handicap the winner is the one who scores the most points over 18 holes therefore ignoring any holes with no score. A team score is normally based on the best two players scores in the team for each hole.

Scoring points as follows

 Shots  Points  Name
 +3  0  Triple Bogey
 +2  0  Double Bogey
 +1  1  Bogey
 Par  2  Par
 -1  3  Birdie
 -2  4  Eagle
 -3  5  Albatross

Texas Scramble
A good team game for mixed abilities - 3 or 4 players each take a tee shot, the best of the drives is chosen, all team members then place and hit their own ball from that spot, repeating the process until the ball is holed. The team with the least number of shots over 18 holes wins.
