- Read the local rules for the golf course your playing
- Speaking in a low tone of voice - shouting, swearing & club throwing is just not golf
- Watch for your playing golfers ball not just your own
- Always be ready to play your shot when it's your turn
- Keep up with the group in front. If you lose a hole, call the group behind through
- Observe the 5 minute search for lost balls, when your time is up drop another and play on
- Shout 'Fore!' to alert those playing golf that your ball is heading in their direction
- Whether you win, lose or finish all-square, shake hands with your playing golfers at the end of the game whilst removing you cap/visor...before enjoy a sociable drink at the 19th.
Tee Etiquette
- Be on time! Ready to play by the tee at least 5 minutes before your tee time
- Know your brand of golf ball marking it also helps it be easily identified when in play
- Be ready when its your turn to play with your club, glove, tee and ball ready in hand
- Honor is normally given to the lowest golf handicap or winner of the last hole
Fairway Etiquette
- The player’s ball furthest from the hole normally plays their next shot first
- Replace toughs of grass made by divots to keep the golf course enjoyable for others
Bunkers Etiquette
- In the rules of golf a player is not allowed to ground a golf club before taking the shot
- Take care when lifting the rake out of the bunker not to disturb the sand or ball
- After the shot smooth out ball marks and footprints in the sand with the rake
- Leave the rake in the position specified by the local rules of golf
Green Etiquette
- Observe the putting line of your playing golfers take care not to walk through it
- A ball hitting the green often leaves a pitch marks ensure these are repaired
- Keep bags, buggies and trolleys off the green in the direction of the next tee
- Move off the green as soon as the last player has putt out
- Recording your score on the next tee while others are playing their tee shot

On the course - All shirts/t-shirts must have collars - Polo/turtle necks are permitted - Tailored trousers full or ¾ length or shorts just above the knee or skorts - Golf shoes only - Woolly hats, caps or visors - No jeans of any type or colour, combat trousers, tight leggings, short shorts/skirts - No heavily slogan tops, t-shirts without collars or sun tops
In the clubhouse - The above golf attire is allowed provided it is clean, dry and tidy - Smart shoes in replace for golf shoes - no trainers - Woolly hats, caps and visors to be removed
A change of clothing into non-golfing attire is normally worn for official dinners or prize giving. Ladies changing room are normally available
What to Eat Loss of stamina and endurance toward the end of an eighteen-hole round of golf happens to many golfers and can often be attributed to poor nutrition.
Aim A meal containing both protein and carbohydrate will help maintain physical and mental precision. Avoid eating large carbohydrate meals - these can leave you feeling lethargic and foggy
An hour before your round: Food such as porridge, muesli, cereals, whole grain, apples, grapes, green vegetables, potatoes, rice and protein. Grilled tuna or chicken with spinach/salad and potato/rice.
During your round: Bananas, mixed dried fruit & nuts and energy bars. Berry smoothie and energy drinks will hydrate and maintain energy levels. Chocolate bars will also do to the trick though will give a sugar rush!
After your round: Before you start to celebrate or commiserate at the 19th hole replace your energy stores with water or a protein drink, the carbohydrate and B-vitamins in chicken will help replenish your body's energy supplies as you would have been out on the course for 4/5 hours.
